American Feed Industry Association has awarded Poultry Nutrition Research Award of PSA (Poultry Science Association) to Dr. Michael Bedford.
Dr. Bedford, the research director for AB Vista in Marlborough, Wiltshire, England, supervised a series of researches that led to the development of a new revolutionary feed additive which combats phytate anti-nutritional effects, improves absorption of phosphorus, protein, and energy, and therefore leads to higher production efficiency, and lower environmental pollution.
Bedford leads about 90 research projects with his team annually. He has more than 300 publications, reviews articles for seven journals regularly, and works with more than 100 scientists and nutritionists. He holds PhD degree in animal nutrition and biochemistry, with two post-doctoral positions in molecular biology and poultry nutrition from the University of Guelph in Canada and a bachelor’s degree in animal production from the University of Nottingham in England.
